JOB SUMMARY: The Major Gifts Officer serves as a member of the Leadership Gifts Team and drives fundraising efforts to meet the Agency’s philanthropic goals. The position is responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major gift and planned gift prospects, including new prospective donors. The Major Gifts Officer will develop and implement strategic moves for achieving specific goals. The position reports to the Director of Leadership Gifts and works collaboratively with the President/CEO and the Development team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Solicits major and planned gifts, contributing to the revenue generation for the organization (both restricted and unrestricted).
• Develops and implements strategies for identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of a significant portfolio of major gift prospects and donors.
• Manages a portfolio of a minimum of 150 prospects contributing toward meeting an annual team goal with anticipated growth and significant discovery.
• Analyzes prospect research with a working knowledge of moves management and familiarity with fundraising software The Raiser’s Edge.
• Manages portfolio pipeline in The Raiser’s Edge and proactively monitors individual metrics toward team goals.
• Works collaboratively with and in support of volunteers, other development staff, and agency leadership to cultivate and solicits donors for agency priorities.
• Assists Development colleagues on their initiatives to include identification, qualification, and re-engagement.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor's degree in business, communications, or related field required.
• Five (5) years of experience in major gift fundraising and developing complex fundraising strategies.
• Five (5) years of experience in developing, directing and managing multiple projects and events, and implementing strategic program goals.

SKILLS and COMPETENCIES:

• Strong organizational, interpersonal, listening, writing and communication skills.
• Personal intellectual skills to articulate organizational needs to various constituencies.
• Knowledge of fundraising principles and practices.
• Knowledge and use of The Raiser’s Edge.
