Machinist - Apprenticeship
Under supervision of the Manufacturing Team Leader/Mentor, the apprentice will learn and follow processing instructions for fabrication of aerospace parts utilizing manual lathes, mills, and CNC lathes. The work will also include bench fabrication, cleaning, identifying and deburring. The apprentice will also train in the use of basic hand tools, assembly and disassembly of R&O hardware. Some hands on manual machining experience and basic knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerance (GD&T) preferred. This apprenticeship position is a full-time opportunity with benefits. Upon successful completion, the apprentice may be offered a full-time permanent position with the company.
The qualified candidate must have a high school diploma with good basic math and computer skills. Strong communication skills and the ability to follow verbal and written instructions are also required.
Experience in areas requiring mechanical aptitude is desired. Lathe, mill or fabrication experience is a plus.
Apprentice will get training across 1st, 2nd and 3rd shifts.
This position will complete with a 2nd or 3rd shift position.
Physical lifting requirements include: ability to lift 50 pounds (4 inches to 25 inches), capable of pushing or pulling a weight of 60 pounds, a grip strength of at least 50 pounds, and ability to reach above the shoulder (65 inches above floor level, minimum).
