The Computer Science Department at Hood College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Management Information Systems to begin August 1, 2018.

Under the general direction of the Chair of the Department of Computer Science and Information Technology, primary responsibilities include teaching and advising undergraduate and graduate students, serving on committees within the department and College, reviewing and developing curriculum in the areas of management information systems and conducting scholarly research. The selected individual will mostly teach courses in our MIS graduate program (http://bit.ly/2yWBIpU) but will have opportunities to teach and collaborate with faculty in our other graduate and undergraduate programs (http://bit.ly/2zQJybU). Earned doctorate in MIS or closely related field by the time of appointment with experience in management information systems and information technology required. Candidates with expertise or interest in any of the following areas are encouraged to apply: business intelligence, big data analytics, information technology management and systems analysis and design.

Requirements

Teaching/Facilitation

  • Teach courses in management information systems, business intelligence, big data analytics, information technology management and other information technology areas;
  • Teach undergraduate service courses;
  • Advise undergraduate and graduate students;
  • Contribute to the department with curriculum development;
  • Maintain an active program of continuing professional activity;
  • Engage in active service within the department and the College;
  • Engage and maintain an active and productive research agenda;
  • Teaching duties and expectations for scholarship and service are commensurate with the faculty member’s employment status.

Education and Experience

Earned doctorate in MIS or closely related field by the time of appointment with experience in management information systems and information technology. Some teaching experience preferred. Professional experience in industry or government is desirable.
