Description Griffin Faculty Practice Plan seeks a medical assistant to perform duties as a medical assistant in a busy gastroenterology office.

Job Responsibilities:

• Fulfills patient care responsibilities as assigned, including organizing patient flow, preparing exam rooms, accompanying patients to exam rooms.
• Performs patient screening, including collecting patient history and vitals.
• Performs blood draws as needed.
• Collects specimens from patients and performs basic lab testing as required.
• Assists doctor with physical exam and office procedures as needed.
• Assists office coordinator with answering phones, scheduling appointments, and other administrative duties as needed.
• Manages and updates patient medical records, manages referrals and prior authorizations.
• Maintains inventory of clinical equipment and supplies, including ordering and restocking when necessary.
Requirements EDUCATION: 1. High school graduate; additional training in Medical Assisting. 2. Graduate of recognized Medical Assistant diploma program

EXPERIENCE: A minimum of six months experience in a similar environment required; computer proficiency required including advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite products, internet browsing and medical practice management. Knowledge of insurance company procedures and policies; government, legal and regulatory provisions related to collection activities; CPT, ICD-9, HCPCS coding; anatomy and medical terminology; and basic mathematics.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS: Ability to function under pressure of time demands. Position requires eye-hand and gross body coordination skills; extensive walking. Position requires the ability to concentrate on details in spite of interruptions and attend to tasks for more than 30 minutes at a time. Individuals must be able to understand and relate theories behind several related concepts and remember multiple tasks given over long periods of time.
