Position Summary: Accountable for working with the department director to provide twenty-four hour oversight of nursing practice and general operations in the Emergency Department, including staff recruitment/retention, policy/procedure, staffing, performance improvement, staff development and resource management.

Essential Job Functions:
• Directs broad operations to ensure the provision of comprehensive departmental services in compliance with all regulatory agencies and hospital requirements.
• Ensures a collaborative departmental approach to long-range strategic operational planning, care and service design and development of organizational policies that reflect the mission of the organization.
• Continuously assesses measures and improves departmental performance.
• Demonstrates responsible management of all departmental resources.
• Demonstrates clinical, technical and managerial competency and ensures that staff professional development needs are met
• Demonstrates clinical leadership through improvements in nursing practice
Requirements Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelors of Science in Nursing or comparable experience. Masters degree preferred
• Current RN licensure in the state of Oregon
• Minimum of two years previous management experience
• Minimum of four years acute care experience
• BLS certification within three months of hire
• Obtain ACLS and TNCC certification within 6 months of hire and maintain as current.
• Demonstrated success in inpatient nursing practice through strong clinical leadership

• Must be able to utilize good judgment, demonstrate patience, and maintain a professional demeanor at all times.
• Must be able to work in a busy and stressful environment
• Computer skills: Word, Excel, Outlook, Electronic medical records software
• Organizational skills and the ability to prioritize
• Strong Interpersonal verbal communication skills
• Creativity, problem analysis and decision making
• Ability to work varied shifts
