||Adjunct Instructor - Sociology
||The role of instructor at Bryant & Stratton College supports the mission of the College by facilitating active learning in the classroom through alternative delivery methodologies. Each instructor maintains contemporary knowledge and skills in the appropriate discipline to support effective instruction. The instructor participates in departmental and campus wide activities to support the needs of students and campus team.
Essential Job Functions
- Engage students within classroom setting and provide quality classroom delivery.
-Provide instruction between 15 and 21 contact hours per week.
-Participate in campus wide initiatives in support of recruitment, retention, and graduation goals.
-Maintain one Skills Assistance contact hour per week for every five hours of assigned instruction.
-Maintain one Administrative contact hour per week for every five hours of assigned instruction.
-Maintain current knowledge of teaching discipline and field of study.
-Participate in curriculum monitoring and development process.
-Attend required college functions including staff meetings, in service training, graduation, and special activities.
-Utilize active learning and facilitation, authentic assessment, and portfolio assignments to support the teaching and learning outcomes of the College.
-Adhere to and uphold all established operational policies and procedures as described in operating documentation (Official Catalog, Faculty Guide, and Associate Guide).
||Knowledge, Skills, & Experience
A Ph.D. is preferred. A Master's degree in SOCIOLOGY is required. We cannot accept a degree in Education. It must be a SOCIOLOGY related degree.
All instructors must possess and exhibit qualities of professionalism, integrity, self-esteem, self-motivation, and a strong desire to guide students to improve their academic performance and career prospects.
All instructors must possess the credentials and experiential requirements as described in Bryant & Stratton College Policy No. 035.
All instructors must maintain a contemporary skill set in support of active learning and authentic assessment evaluation methodology.
All instructors are responsible for establishing and maintaining a classroom climate consistent with the College values.
