Title Turnaround Manager

Description

The Turnaround Manager is responsible for managing the turnaround process from scope development through execution, ensuring that best practices are being used while managing cost. Deliverables include work scope, detailed planning packages, energy control strategies, unit shut< down timelines, execution plans, manpower plans and cost. Working with teams the Manager will be responsible for overseeing the development of Turnaround estimate and detailed Turnaround planning efforts while adhering to the Turnaround milestone and integrated schedules. Responsibilities include managing constructability and construction execution activities through coordination, collaboration, communication and strong critical thinking skills.

Primary Responsibilities:

 

  • Applies Global Turnaround Methodology and corresponding best practices.
  • Creates value by executing best in class Turnaround Performance with respect to EH&S, asset utilization and asset mechanical reliability
  • Ensures proper completion of inspections and implementation of all environmental, safety, compliance and security requirements.
  • Measures the efficiency of the work process and initiates Management of Change for improvements and fast knowledge transfers.
  • Develops pre-turnaround, turnaround, and post-turnaround schedules with business team(s) and operating unit(s).
  • Establishes contracting plan and facilitates work list development.
  • Ensures all planning activities are performed as scheduled (job packages, tools and consumable packages, including heavy and small tools, and equipment).
  • Develops physical layout of actual turnaround site; works closely with internal audit and other departments to ensure turnaround objectives.
  • Acts as a liaison between operations, maintenance and engineering.
  • Controls cost and outage duration of Turnarounds to meet business needs by working with the Business to develop good work inventories, work within budget boundaries, and prevent scope creep.
  • Ensures an integrated schedule (project and turnaround) is created.
  • Ensures all work (including pre-turnaround) is completed appropriately.
  • Ensures that corrections or improvements to operating discipline at the facility are completed directly following the turnaround.
  • Holds accountability for both performance (results) and process (how those results were achieved) measures of the turnaround execution.
  • Partners with P2P (purchasing) efforts to complete contractor selection for work executed during their turnaround and manages those resources throughout all phases of the turnaround.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or needed.

 

Requirements
  • 5 years of chemical plant/refinery experience with specific emphasis in turnarounds and a demonstrated ability to lead with a record of proactive accomplishment.
  • Unwavering focus on safely performing work and following compliance rules, codes and regulations.
  • Expertise and experience in turnaround and project principles.
  • Demonstrated success in managing large projects or turnaround.
  • Ability to work as a team lead and/or team participant.
  • Ability to make critical decisions, problem solve and analyze.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Motivation and initiative to get results and seek opportunities for additional responsibility.
  • Ability to work effectively with peers in all departments.
  • Available for unexpected extended hours, nights, weekends and holidays, especially during the duration of scheduled & non-scheduled Turnarounds.

Desired Skills/Experience:

  • BS in Engineering.
  • In depth knowledge of maintenance work & execution for all craft types utilized in a petrochemical facility.
  • Experience in planning & execution of large Projects/Turnaounds.
  • Project management skills (planning, organizing, negotiating, influencing).
  • Knowledge of SAP & demonstrate strong accounting practices associated with Turnaround/Project Management.
  • Proficiency with Primavera.
